CadSoft EAGLE (Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor) has long been a staple in the electronic design automation (EDA) industry. Before its acquisition by Autodesk and transition to a subscription-based model, version 7.1.0 stood out as one of the most stable, reliable, and widely adopted releases of the classic perpetual-license era.

The design process begins by placing components and wiring them together to define electrical connectivity (nets).

In 2016, Autodesk acquired CadSoft. The software was rebranded to Autodesk EAGLE, and starting with Version 8.0.0 (released 2017), the licensing was forcibly changed to a subscription-only model. By 2020, EAGLE was bundled into the Fusion 360 ecosystem, and in 2023, Autodesk announced the End of Life (EOL) for EAGLE, scheduled for June 7, 2026.

The 7.x roadmap focused heavily on modernization, stability, and handling complex geometries. Version 7.1.0 brought several distinct advantages: Enhanced Autorouter

The software is compatible with various file formats, including Eagle, ODB++, IPC-2581, and Gerber.
